Neste domingo (13) em São Paulo, a Cadillac celebrou uma dobradinha, depois de uma corrida extremamente forte em Interlagos. O time conseguiu converter a pole obtida por Alex Lynn no sábado, em um grande resultado para a marca americana. A conquista foi obtida após uma batalha inicial com a Porsche, onde os dois carros conseguiram estabelecer um bom ritmo e superar o adversário para recuperar a ponta.
No entanto, para a Cadillac conseguir tal resultado, primeiramente eles precisaram “correr” atrás do prejuízo, após sofrer uma ultrapassagem na largada. Conforme a prova avançou, Andlauer começou a perder espaço para os carros rivais, obtendo faturando a liderança da corrida com uma bela ultrapassagem pela curva 1, próximo ao final da segunda hora.
Bamber e Button, então, foram alcançados pelo carro #12, quando conseguiram fazer um undercut bem-sucedido, onde Lynn tomou a ponta.
Apesar do #12 cumprir uma penalidade em drive-though por uma infração técnica, o equipamento comandado por Steven, Alex Lynn e Norman Nato, resistiu na liderança, para consolidar a primeira vitória da marca americana que conseguiu tal feito na categoria.
“Este é o terceiro ano correndo com este carro e, honestamente, vendo o que ele se tornou nas mãos da JOTA e como o programa também se transformou, estou extremamente grato por fazer parte disso e honrado por finalmente vencer uma corrida no Campeonato Mundial de Endurance da FIA para a Cadillac”, entusiasmou-se Lynn. “Este é apenas o começo – acho que podemos alcançar tudo o que sonhamos com esta parceria. O céu é o limite, e estou muito animado!”
O Cadillac #38, tripulado por Bamber, Jenson Button e Sébastien Bourdais celebraram a dobradinha, os competidores iniciaram a corrida ocupando a terceira posição, depois de uma punição aplicada depois da classificação. O pódio ainda contou com a celebração de Michael Christensen, Andilauer e Mathieu Jaminet.
O quarto lugar foi ocupado pelo Porsche Penske #6, enquanto o BMW M Team WRT #20 fechou o top-05.
A Ferrari, depois de um início de fim de semana desastroso, faturou a oitava posição com o #83.
